The Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller reference 116660 with the D-Blue dial was introduced in 2014 to commemorate James Cameron's 2012 solo dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Its dial fades from bright blue to deep black, the way light disappears with depth, and the green "DEEPSEA" lettering matches the colour of his submersible. The D-Blue 116660 was made from 2014 until the reference was replaced in 2018.

The 44 mm Oystersteel case is built around Rolex's Ringlock System: a nitrogen-alloyed steel ring inside the case, a domed sapphire crystal and a grade 5 titanium caseback let it resist the pressure at 3,900 metres (12,800 feet). A helium escape valve sits on the left side of the case and a Triplock screw-down crown on the right. The black Cerachrom ceramic bezel turns one way, with a 60-minute scale and platinum-coated numerals.

Inside is the self-winding Caliber 3135, a certified Superlative Chronometer with a blue Parachrom hairspring and about 48 hours of power reserve. It is worn on an Oystersteel Oyster bracelet with an Oysterlock safety clasp, the Glidelock extension for fine adjustment and the Fliplock link for wearing over a wetsuit.
