DIAMOND GUARANTEE

As a leading company in the diamond jewelry industry, Diamonds International recognizes that the source of diamonds is a very important issue, thus we are sharing in the global industry's effort to ensure that all the diamonds in the market have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in conflict funding.

New media attention has been brought to the issue of Conflict Diamonds with the release of the movie The Blood Diamond. Diamonds International wants our customers to know that we do not support or sell Conflict Diamonds. Here are a few points that may not be made clear in The Blood Diamond movie:

  1. 99.9% of diamonds worldwide are conflict-free
  2. In order for diamonds to enter the United States, they must be accompanied by a Kimberley Process certificate proving legitimacy; diamonds of questionable sources are not allowed to enter the United States
  3. Sierra Leone, the setting of The Blood Diamond movie and now a conflict-free country, is one of 52 participating country governments involved in the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme to eliminate Conflict Diamonds
  4. The System of Warranties is a voluntary program within the diamond industry that assures that polished diamonds and diamond jewelry are legitimately traded under the United Nations Resolutions

Diamonds International is constantly holding to the highest standards of excellence. After being a London DTC sightholder since 2005, in November 2007, Almod Diamonds Namibia, an affiliate of Diamonds International, was announced to become an NDTC (Namibia Diamond Trading Company) sightholder. Almod is one of only 11 companies that have been granted sightholder status in Namibia. Currently, there are about 110 DTC sightholders worldwide.

In March 2008, Almod Diamonds Namibia officially opened its 6,000-square-foot state-of-the-art factory in Windhoek, Namibia. Today, the factory employs approximately 80 people, out of which 60 are local employees that have been trained by the management of Almod Diamonds Namibia to cut and polish all shapes of diamonds: rounds, fancies and, of course, Almod's own special cut, the Crown of Light® diamond.

As a DTC sightholder, Almod and DI must abide by the DTC's latest assurance program, the Best Practice Principles. The BPP are a set of guidelines regarding business, social and environmental practices. Each Diamonds International location was thoroughly assessed for issues such as full disclosure of treated or synthetic stones, health and safety procedures for employees, discrimination policies, wage policies, child labor laws and environmental safety policies. By upholding the ethical and moral principles outlined in the BPP, Diamonds International will work to raise consumer confidence and demonstrate that the diamond industry concerns itself over issues of health, welfare and human rights of individuals as well as our respect for the environment.

Almod Diamonds Namibia and Diamonds International abide by the System of Warranties and the Clean Diamond Act in order to support the battle against conflict diamonds. As a DTC sightholder, Almod and Diamonds International have been assessed to be in compliance with all laws and regulations that ensure 100% conflict-free diamonds.
